Quote: “When you are liberal in your loves and counsels, be sure you be not loose; for
those friends, once they perceive the least obstacle in your fortunes, fall
away like water from you.”

Answer: Act 2, Scene 1, Lines
147-150.  Buckingham to the crowd.  The Duke of Buckingham is about to be lead to his death. He provides a story of his father who, back in the time of Richard II, had been betrayed by a servant, as now he has, Cardinal Wolsey being a servant to society. This quote is the last advice he offers.
